Duties

Tokio Marine is seeking to add to our team of P&C Insurance Paralegal/ Filings.
We are seeking individuals who committed to a diverse and collaborative culture, who will work towards developing innovative solutions for our customers, business units, and clients.

 

The Opportunity

 Work with a high performing, professional team to research filing laws and regulations. Prepare and submit Commercial Lines insurance filings to all State Insurance Departments.

 

1. Job Summary

Researching filing laws and regulations, Manages rate, rule and form filings for assigned lines of business. Prepares filing submissions working in conjunction with Actuarial and Product Management teams in 52 jurisdictions in accordance with regulations. Initiates request for entry of filings into the policy administration system.

 

2. Primary Job Duties

  • Research and analysis of Property & Casualty insurance laws and regulations in 52 jurisdictions.
  • Manages Bureau and Independent rate, rule and form filings for assigned lines of business.
  • Reviews bureau circulars to maintain compliance for both bureau and independent filings; initiates  the required action on all filings including state fee, tax and surcharge notification
  • Prepares filing submissions to each State Insurance Department including drafting of an explanatory memorandum
  • Effectively coordinates with Product Managers, actuaries and other internal and external filing and system resources;. As necessary
  • Coordinate with  product managers and actuaries to draft  responses to state insurance examiners' inquiries (includes drafting response letters);
  •  Knowledge of Property & Casualty SERFF state filings system; completion of transmittal, and state filing forms.
  • Assist in systems implementation for Corporate Underwriting matters; Effective in working with vendor programmers and filers.
  • Follows Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to meet compliance specifications for each individual line of business assigned; including updates to internal tools and systems.
  • Product Development support to Product Line manager; including competitor filing research.

 Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities; including data systems.

Qualifications

College Degree preferred CPCU or equivalent Professional designation preferred. Minimum of 5 Years of experience in the P&C business. Preferred Minimum of 2 Years of experience in Underwriting-related work experience. Familiarity with SERFF filing system Knowledge of a national rating bureau and independent state bureaus required. Experience with Compliance-related issues. Experience with Internal Audits a plus Strong Computer skills in Outlook, Word and Excel. Strong math skills – such as deriving the percentage changes. Strong verbal and written Communication skills. Participation in previous Corporate Projects a plus Detail oriented. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
