Duties

($58,000 - $76,000)

Job Summary:

Handle primarily non litigated PL claims and some litigated PL cases under close supervision. Obtain claim information and provide liability assessment and recommendations to clients in order to assure a high quality of claim handling and litigation supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Supervise and handle routine Product Liability claims and litigation, by obtaining information, conducting investigation and providing client reports for further handling. Identify proper policy and determine coverage.
2. Provide essential instruction and authorization to outside defense counsel, claims agents investigators, etc.
3. Evaluate liability and damages to set proper reserves and negotiate settlements. Attend small claims hearings, mediations and arbitration hearings. Some travel required.
4. Maintain proper documentation in file. Obtain and record accurate and complete data.
5. Conduct or participate in client/claim review meetings.
6. Assist in the handling of Non-Marine claims other than PL or Overseas Travel Accident Insurance (OTAI) TMNF claims.
7. Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company

Qualifications

-     College Degree preferred

-     One to five years casualty claims handling 

-     Basic knowledge of insurance

-     Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

-     Good oral and written communication skills

-     California Adjuster's License preferred

-     Ability to work as a team member
