Duties

Job Summary:

Responsible for the planned profitability, growth and retention of commercial inland marine business within a specified geographic area. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Produce new business and renew existing portfolio in accordance with plan.  Achieve loss ratio plan by determining acceptability of risk based on underwriting guidelines and sound judgment.
• Apply leadership skills with co-workers, fostering a teaming approach. Work within established work-flows to meet region time service goals.
• Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with producers, clients and any other external distribution channels.  Utilize effective sales and negotiation skills to obtain and retain accounts on the most profitable terms possible for TMA. Role requires travel to support multiple areas of the United States as needed.
• Work closely with other internal departments such as operations, loss control, claims, marketing, audit and accounting to meet client service goals and increase knowledge on your accounts.
• Follow TMA and regional underwriting guidelines to ensure the profitability and efficiency of your book of business.
• Make use of current TMA technology to process your work.  Update skills as necessary, including but not limited  Excel programs and power point
• Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of commercial underwriting experience or equivalent
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Ability to travel as required, up to 25% depending on business needs and clients serviced
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary range of $105,000- $140,000. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
