Duties

Job Summary:

Adjustment of Marine and Inland Marine claims inclusive of surveyor appointment, reserve notification, and file maintenance via manual and/or computer entry.  Understanding of claims relative to loss history and application of special claims procedures as may be required for individual accounts.  Responsible for pursueing recovery against liable carriers.  A Senior Adjuster is aware of the total department operation and should assist in all operationsal aspects of the work flow of the department

Essential Job Functions:

1. Process and adjust ocean and inland marine claims.
2. Determine liability and /or necessity of surveyor.
3. Communicate and maintain relations with outside parties such as clients and insureds.
4. Control the department's case management, shipment manifest details and damage prevention methods.    
5. Responsible for protecting all rights against third parties and/or responsible parties which may be liable.  Such responsibility may include direct recovery handling.
6. Prepare and present loss history reports and necessary presentations to all clients.
7. Provide guidance and assistance to team members as needed.
8. Coordinate PMS or Computer operation within the department inclusive of data entry.
9. Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.     

Qualifications

Qualifications:

-     College degree preferred

-     Extensive Insurance Adjustment experience requried 

-     Strong PC skills, including Word and Excel

-     Ability to work a part of a team

-     Must have at least four years of experience as Marine Claims Adjuster or six years of claims handling experience

-     State adjusters license preferred

-     Strong written and oral communication skills
