Duties

Job Summary:


Manage, control and oversee the field operations of the Casualty Lines of the Non-Marine Claims Departments for the entire company. Overall accountability for day-to-day functions, processes and procedures of the department. Develop and review key work processes and procedures to create and maintain an efficient claims organization. Develop and implement key field claims strategies. Oversee and ensure customer satisfaction.


Essential Job Functions:
1.Manage and supervise all technical and administrative matters relating to Casualty Lines of the Non Marine Claims in all offices.
2.Review, establish and correct, where necessary, all processes and procedures related to technical and administrative matters and work flows.
3.Supervise assigned staff by providing guidance, coaching, and structure, to ensure a high level of customer service and maximum efficiency in the processing and coordination of claim activity under such units.
4.Monitor activities of responsible areas to ensure adherence to effective personnel and personnel- related policies and practices. Monitor data to ensure proper staffing. Conduct the Company’s performance appraisal and salary administration program properly. Arrange for appropriate training as may be required to improve staff technical, administrative skills, or processing skills.
5.Establish appropriate authority levels of technical staff commensurate with their experience, knowledge, and skills.
6.Monitor activities to ensure proficiency in file control and documentation, as well as timely and effective response to clients, claimants, producers, Senior Management or Client Solution requests.
7.Monitor and coordinate activities to ensure timely and effective settlements and closure of pending claims.
8.Review issues of a highly technical nature or those which may exceed responsible staff authority level, and provide counsel and appropriate decisions.
9.Monitor activities to ensure proper dissemination of large loss reports in accordance with company standards and procedures.
10.Manage and implement claims programs for casualty lines of insurance.
11.Direct the review and settlement of complex or high dollar casualty claims.
12.Effectively coordinate department activity with other support units or departments such as Corporate Claims, Client Solutions, Underwriting, Loss Control, Accounting, Administration, etc.
13.Monitor Industry trends and developments, and advise Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of activity, which may affect company operations.
14.Establish where needed and review all processes and procedures pertaining to TPAs.
15.Comply with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

Other Functions:
1.Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned.
2.Regular and reliable attendance.
3.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Qualifications

1.College Degree or equivalent (Law Degree or CPCU preferred)
2.Minimum of 12 years experience with Multi-line claims technical experience with major U.S. P/C insurer (emphasis on heavy casualty expertise).
3.Minimum of five years of management experience in multi-line claim operation (Regional or Home Office managerial experience preferred).
4.Strong oral and written communication skills
5.Ability to work independently and as part of a team
6.Superior PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
7.Ability to analyze claim and other data, and make related recommendations for resolution, remediation, or improvement.
